TEI Electrical Solutions Completes $1.3M Project at JHU Community Psychiatry Programs

JHU Community Psychiatry Project

TEI Electrical Solutions completed a $1.3M project at the Johns Hopkins University Community Psychiatry facility in collaboration with Whiting-Turner.  The 70,000 square foot facility, located on East Lombard Street in Baltimore and near the main campus of Johns Hopkins Hospital, was previously an empty shell.

 

The scope of work included:

-A large and sophisticated fixture package consisting of over 1,400 lights controlled by over 750 occupancy sensor devices connected together as a system by over 23,000 liner feet of cable.

-Power requirements included 84-ground fault circuit interrupters, 560-duplex receptacles, 238-quad receptacles along with 12 floor boxes that required 3,000 linear feet of PVC conduit to be installed under the concrete slab.

-There were 22,000 linear feet of 12/2 me cable installed to provide power.

-There was 33,645 linear feet of ¾” EMT conduit installed for this project, with a total of 220,215 linear feet of solid THHN copper wire.

-For the power distribution requirements, TEI Electrical Solutions provided and installed 14 electrical panels and 7 transformers, all fed from the existing 4000 amp switchgear.

-The fire alarm system consisted of 220 signaling devices and 26 initiating devices all connected to the main panel by over 6,400 linear feet of cable.

-2,150 linear feet of basket cable tray was installed along with 426-communication data drops which required 5,200 feet of 1″ conduit to complete.

 

TEI Electrical Solutions workforce were trained to work with energized new and existing panels and were required to wear Arc flash gear for the duration of the project.
