Rocketship Charter School

Rocketship Education, which opened its first school in San Jose in 2007, quickly gained national attention for its low‐cost, blended–learning approach and strong test scores for poor and minority students, who face some of the toughest learning challenges. The D.C. school is the 12th for Rocketship and is a 54,000 square‐foot, two story building with a dramatic entrance, outdoor terrace, multiple play areas and nature trails. TEI was contracted by MCN to provide the installation of a complete electrical system including a sophisticated lighting and lighting control package. Faced with an aggressive thirteen month schedule, MCN had to know that all of their subcontractors, were prepared to provide all the required resources to deliver the project on time. With careful planning and an aggressive pre‐fabrication program TEI was an integral part of that successful scheduling effort. TEI worked closely with MCN to allow the electrical service to be installed and energized before the roof was on the building. This proved to be a major contributing factor that allowed the project to be completed on time.
